On 24 December 2025, in El Salitre (Guayas), unidentified armed individuals riding a motorcycle shot and killed a young man and a minor in a drive-by shooting on Jaime Roldos Avenue, in front of the stadium. The assailants intercepted them and forced them to step off the vehicle. One victim died from multiple gunshots to the head. The other was injured and later died in hospital. An abandoned motorcycle was found near the crime scene, which was suspected to be related to the attack. 2 fatalities.
