On 24 December 2025, unknown perpetrators killed Ahmad Tuwaisa in Shat Al Arab district (coded as Al Shalamijah city, Al Basrah) after abducting him on 18 December, likely due to tribal disputes. His body with 8 gunshot wounds was found dumped in an irrigation canal in the district, along the road leading to Al Shalamijah city. The victim's identity was confirmed by family members. Tuwaisa had been accused of involvement in the assassination of activists and protesters in the past in Al Basrah and other provinces, and had lived in hiding since 2021. 1 fatality.
