On 24 December 2025, in the morning, JNIM militants attacked a post of volunteer fighters (VDP) in the village of Folonzo (Niangoloko, Comoe, Cascades). A total of 19 people were killed, including 14 VDP and 5 civilians. 6 VDP were also injured. JNIM claimed to have assaulted and taken control of a VDP headquarters in Folonzo. In a separate statement, JNIM said it killed 15 VDP, and seized a number of light machine guns, motorcycles, and other equipment. JNIM published photographs of the seized items. 15 fatalities coded, as per lowest estimate available.
