On 24 December 2025, an armed group suspected to be affiliated with militia leader Mohamed Bahroun shot the cousin of the commander of the 52nd Brigade in the Anqar area of Az Zawiyah (Az Zawiyah, West). The victim was hospitalized in intensive care following the shooting. After the incident, the 52nd Brigade and a group affiliated with Bahroun deployed heavily in the city, including in front of the Al Arifi Mosque.
