On 24 December 2025, dozens of soldiers surrounded the palace of the Mamprusi Bawku Naba 'Alhaji Seidu Abagre' and removed the chief from Bawku (Bawku, Upper East) and also taking his son and brother. Sources also described an 'armed confrontation' during the removal. 2 civilians were also killed (no further details). Authorities stated to have pursued the recommendations of the Otumfuo Asantehene Osei Tutu II captured in the Bawku mediation report.
