SAA event in Cortes, San Pedro Sula area, Honduras on Tue 23rd December 2025

On 23 December 2025, in San Pedro Sula, Cortes, unidentified armed men shot and killed a man inside his black double-cabin truck while he was leaving a restaurant with his family in the Los Andes neighborhood. The assailants, traveling in a green SUV, intercepted the vehicle and shot the victim multiple times, leaving him face down in the driver's seat. A woman and two children were present; one child was injured during the attack. Authorities confirmed that the vehicle had no license plates and that the victim was carrying a firearm and extra magazines. At least five shell casings were recovered at the scene. Police suspect this attack is linked to two other killings: the 20 December shooting of a civil engineer in Villas Mackay and the 22 December killing of a DJ in Rio de Piedras (coded separately). Authorities believe all three killings were carried out by the same MS-13 hit squad, based on similarities in modus operandi. A suspected member of Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) has been arrested and is under investigation for involvement in these attacks. 1 fatality. 1 injured.
