On 23 December 2025, in neighboring rural areas of the Santander de Quilichao, Suarez and Buenos Aires municipalities (coded to Santander de Quilichao, Cauca), military forces clashed with Jaime Martinez FARC dissidents for several hours, resulting in an unspecified number of combatants killed. The large security operation also included the discovery of an explosives cache containing approximately two tons of explosives, and the attempted controlled detonations of three car bombs, which resulted in the injuries of four police officers.
