On 22 December 2025, in Portoviejo (Manabi), two unidentified armed individuals shot and killed a lawyer and former police officer in his office on Ejercito Avenue and 1 de Junio Street. They arrived on motorcycles, knocked on the door, and when the victim came out, they shot him and fled immediately. 1 fatality.
