On 20 December 2025, in Guayaquil - Tarqui (Guayas), an unidentified armed individual shot and killed a man and injured another person at a restaurant in the Ciudadela Urdenor. The attacker entered the restaurant on foot and walked directly to the fatal victim's table. One of his companions then opened fire at the attacker, who responded with gunshots, killing another client who was trying to escape the restaurant. The police later arrested five people in relation to the attack. 2 fatalities.
