On 19 December 2025, 2 soldiers were killed in the explosion of anti-personnel mines planted by NPA militants in Barangay Cabungan (Balatan, Camarines Sur, Bicol Region). 3 soldiers were also wounded in the explosion. The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) said when the military was conducting offensive combat operations, the NPA militants carried out defense operations and withdrew from the area immediately.
