Kawlin Info reported that military council troops advancing in a column into Kawlin Township, Sagaing Region, shot and killed one civilian.

Early on January 18, a 200-strong military council column burned a motorcycle repair shop and tire shop in Taung Maw village, eastern Kawlin, and executed a civilian. Kawlin Info told Shwe Phee Myay, "The body was found this morning in Taung Maw village. Identity unconfirmed. Around 25-30 years old. Shot dead with a gun."
