On 18 December 2025, 2 unidentified assailants on a motorcycle threw a makeshift explosive device, consisting of 2 factory-grade firecrackers with low-explosive material, at the home of a controversial artist in Kokkinotrimithia and fled the scene. His exhibition with religion-themed paintings received criticism as being 'blasphemous' and was cancelled. The attack took place while he was at home with his whole family and grandchildren. There was material damage, but no injuries.
