On 18 December 2025, suspected NAS members targeted a government security forces unit (coded as SSPDF) at an unspecified location in Wonduruba Payam (Juba County, Central Equatoria State), resulting in 3 fatalities. 7 civilians were later detained under unclear circumstances and taken to the main barracks in Lainya. The detainees were asked to pay SSP 600,000 each to secure their release. 5 of the civilians were freed after making the payment, but 2 remain held because they could not pay the required amount.
