On 16 December 2025, suspected armed Kuki assailants fired dozens of rounds, including bombs, following which a team of security forces including Manipur police commandos and Indian Army immediately fired back along the Bishnupur-Churachandpur border towards the Torbung, Kangvai, and Phougakchao Ikhai village areas (coded to Phougakchao Ikhai village, Bishnupur, Manipur) following the resettlement of Meitei IDPs at Phougakchao Ikhai, amidst ongoing violence between Meitei and Tribal communities in the state. There were no casualties. Three craters of three feet in diameter and 1.5 feet deep made by bombs and houses with bullet holes were found the next morning. The Meitei side claimed that the armed assailants fired 40 to 50 rounds of ammunition along with at least four bombs from the western side of Phougakchao Ikhai.
