On 16 December 2025, five drug suspects, including a suspected MILF commander, were shot dead in a Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operation in Barangay Paatan Lower (Kabacan, Cotabato, Soccsksargen). Two drug suspects, including the alleged wife of the slain commander, were arrested during the operation. Police reported retrieving suspected shabu (crystal meth) from the suspects.
