On 16 December 2025, in Tulcan parish (coded to Julio Andrade, Carchi), members of the FARC dissident group Frontier Command opened fire on members of the Ecuadorian Army during an operation in the Casa Grande, La Pintada, and La Estrellita sectors. Two members of the FARC dissident group were killed. Military officers were responding to alerts of suspected extortion against landowners in the area. Authorities seized two rifles, 8 magazines, 500 rounds of ammunition, 5 grenades, and two tactical vests. 2 fatalities.
