On 16 December 2025, suspected Turkana ethnic militia from Kenya clashed with Dassanach ethnic militia in Sirkaru, near Borkonoch, in Dassanech Wereda (location coded to admin center, Omorate, Dasenech-Kuraz, South Omo, South Ethiopia Region), injuring 1 person from the Dassanech community. The clash started when Turkana ethnic militia attempted to raid livestock belonging to the Dassanech community and took an unknown number of cattle.
