On 16 December 2025, an unidentified armed group opened fire on a bus traveling from Bolgatanga to Kumasi near Walewale (Mamprusi West, North East) after the bus stopped due to burning tires on the road. The bus driver and a passenger, shot in the head, were critically injured. The attack was believed to be linked to tensions in the area. No further details.
