On 14 December 2025, unidentified gunmen shot and killed a Druze individual in Busan town in rural As Sweida who is a well-known national figure. The victim is a poet and critic of Druze leader Hikmat al Hijri who recently criticized the leader over social media. On the same day, National Guard members closed the village's entrances and exits, preventing residents from entering or leaving. 1 fatality.
