In Wetlet Township, Sagaing Region, three locals who had temporarily returned to their village from war-displacement areas were killed by a heavy weapons strike, according to residents and a local civilian group.

The shells, fired by military council troops based in Sintku and Matara townships across the Chindwin River in Mandalay Region, landed and exploded inside Yay Lai Maw village in eastern Wetlet Township around noon yesterday.
