According to a Karen military source, the junta launched airstrikes on two Border Guard Force (BGF) bases in Hpa-an Township, Karen State, that had recently switched allegiance to the Karen National Army (KNA), killing one KNA soldier and injuring four others.

The attacks took place around 3:25 p.m. on January 12, when junta aircraft and drones dropped bombs on BGF bases located in Thayak Taw and U Daung villages in northern Hpa-an. The airstrikes reportedly caused the death of one KNA soldier and injuries to four others.
