Locals told Yangon Khit Thit news agency that a civilian was killed when junta troops stationed at the Myanmar Yansi Company compound in Sarlingyi Township, Sagaing Region, fired heavy artillery rounds on surrounding areas.

The exchange reportedly began around 10 a.m. on January 11, when local defense forces and junta troops stationed inside the Yansi compound engaged in a shootout using heavy weapons. One of the artillery shells fired by the junta troops exploded inside Wa Tan Village, killing a man.
