According to a statement released by the Karen National Union (KNU) Central Committee, the military carried out air and heavy artillery attacks on villages in Mone Township, Bago Region, killing four civilians and injuring two others. Three houses were also destroyed in the assault.
At around 10:15 a.m. on January 8, the military dropped two 500-pound bombs from aircraft over Hlehdone Village. During the attack, 76-year-old Daw Tin Myint, 48-year-old Daw Nan Nwe, and 79-year-old Daw Hla Aye were killed. A 12-year-old boy named Maung Thu Ya Hein was injured, and three houses were damaged by artillery fire.
