Local residents and a source from the People’s Defense Forces said that resistance forces have attacked and captured Taw Kye Inn town, located beside the old Yangon–Mandalay road in Kyauktagar Township, Bago Region, inflicting heavy casualties on junta troops, with many soldiers’ bodies lying scattered along the road.

Starting at around 3 a.m. today, January 9, resistance forces advanced into Taw Kye Inn and seized control of the town, capturing the military camps there, the source said. The fighting was so intense that the junta has been conducting continuous airstrikes in response.
