On January 4, troops from the Military Commission had been carrying out repair work on the power poles that were damaged by artillery between Loikaw and Demoso townships, under tight security. While they were carrying out the repairs, members of the Karenni resistance forces launched a sniper attack, killing four soldiers who were working on the power lines.
