SAA event in National Capital Territory, Delhi area, India on Thu 15th January 2026

On January 15, one sharpshooter sustained a gunshot injury during a late-night encounter with Delhi Police in Outer Delhi, following which the injured accused and another person, including a minor, linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, were arrested in Delhi, reports The Tribune. Two pistols, live cartridges and a scooter used in the crimes were seized from their possession. Police said the encounter occurred near Hiranaki Mod after the suspects opened fire while being intercepted. Police retaliated, leading to a brief exchange of fire in which one of the accused was injured. The injured accused was shifted to a hospital for treatment, while the juvenile accomplice was apprehended under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act. The accused, identified as Deepak and a juvenile, were involved in recent firing incidents in Paschim Vihar and West Vinod Nagar areas.
