On January 9, Punjab Police arrested five criminals, including a Bihar resident, averting a targeted killing linked to an extortion racket linked to A-category gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, reports The Tribune. Aditya Raj alias Aditya, a resident of Nalanda District (Bihar), was injured in a brief exchange of fire with Police in the Meerakot area. He, along with accomplice Kulwinder Singh alias Billa of Gurdaspur District, had earlier escaped a police trap. Police Commissioner (PC) Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the gangled by Kulwinder Singh, Vikram Singh alias Mamman, Manpreet Singh alias Bura (all of Gurdaspur), and Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi of Amritsar Districtwas operating on the directions of foreign-based gangsters Amrit Dalm and Keshav Shivala. Acting on intel, Police recovered a Hyundai Verna car, two swords and a datar. During a chase, Aditya fired at Police; he was injured in retaliatory fire. A 9mm Glock pistol and a .32 bore country-made pistol were seized.
