In a joint security operation under the Plan Michoacán por la Paz y la Justicia and Operación Paricutín, personnel from the Mexican Army, National Guard, and Guardia Civil conducted ground reconnaissance patrols and surveillance in border areas between the municipalities of Apatzingán and Aquila, Michoacán. Aerial support was provided by aircraft on standby. During the patrols, authorities located and secured a substantial cache of illicit materials presumed linked to organized crime activities, specifically the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), which has long contested control in the Tierra Caliente region. Seized items included: 12 firearms 37 magazines 1,302 rounds of ammunition One improvised explosive device (IED) 24 bags containing a green, dry herbaceous substance with characteristics similar to marijuana
