A Georgetown woman on probation faces charges Jan. 7 after police say she had an explosive device and drugs at her home.

Probation & Parole requested assistance from the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force following an administrative search at probationer Amanda Seward’s residence on the 17000 block of McColleys Chapel Road. During the search of the residence, police said, probation officers found an explosive device, about .07 grams of methamphetamine, about .06 grams of heroin, 12 mg buprenorphine sublingual film, 3 mg naloxone sublingual film, and a digital scale.

Amanda Seward, 34, and two men were detained without incident. Police said the Delaware State Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit responded and determined the device to be active before rendering it safe.

Seward was arrested and taken to Troop 4, where she was charged with felony possession of a destructive weapon – bomb, three counts possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance except human growth hormone without a prescription, and two counts possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and released on a $1,500 unsecured bond but committed to Sussex Correctional Institution for probation violations. The two men were charged with misdemeanor offenses and released.
