The police were alerted to a suspicious shooting in Hässelby, northwest Stockholm, shortly after 1 p.m. on Friday. A young man was arrested shortly after the incident, suspected of making a serious unlawful threat and a serious violation of the Weapons Act.
A person is said to have fired several shots at a door in an apartment building in Hässelby in western Stockholm, the police write on their website.
– Several witnesses are calling us after hearing bangs. When we get there, we will begin a hunt for a suspected perpetrator, says Mats Eriksson, press spokesperson for the Stockholm Police.
Shortly after 1:30 p.m., the police announced that a young man had been taken into custody.
– We have both looked at film footage and spoken to witnesses, and after checking several people, we will soon meet a suspected perpetrator, says Mats Eriksson.
No one was reported injured.
– We must ensure that no one is injured, but we have not yet found anyone injured, and we should have done so now if anyone was injured, says Mats Eriksson.
The young man who was detained is suspected of making a serious unlawful threat and a serious violation of the Weapons Act.
– Now we will question him and also hear more witnesses, says Mats Eriksson.
