Shots were fired from a villa in Osby on Sunday and neighbors were urged to stay away from windows and doors. Two men were taken into custody by the police. One is suspected of violating the Weapons Act – but for a different weapon than the one that was fired. No one was injured in the incident.

Several police patrols were called to Högstagården in Osby after shots were fired from a villa.

Two men were "secured" and taken into custody by police. One, a man in his 80s, is said by police to have fired a weapon that does not require a license. He is therefore not suspected of any crime related to the weapon that was fired.

However, the police found another weapon, for which the man does not have a license. He is suspected of violating the Weapons Act, but has not been arrested.

– That weapon has not been used, it was found during a search of the house, says Filip Annas, police spokesman.

The other man, who is familiar with the suspect, is not suspected of any crime.

The task force and negotiators were also called to the scene, but according to the police, there is currently nothing to indicate that it was a hostage situation.

The police are at the scene and the blockades have been lifted.

People in the area were urged to avoid standing in windows or doorways during the incident and the police initiated an evacuation of residents in nearby houses.

Magnus, who lives in Osby, stayed inside after being called by the police. He tells SVT that he heard something that sounded like a gunshot and that he is surprised that it happened in Osby.

– It's not fun or amusing. Everyone is probably surprised by a possible shooting in their area.
