Two junta soldiers, including an officer, were reportedly killed and two assault rifles seized after resistance forces attacked a military vehicle in Natmauk Township, Magway Region, according to Ko Aseit Thee, spokesperson for the Natmauk Township People’s Defense Force (PDF).

At around 8 a.m. on January 2, members of the Natmauk PDF were conducting a road checkpoint on the Saing Kaung–Ywa Mun road when a Toyota Hilux carrying three junta soldiers, including an officer, approached from Saing Kaung Village. The soldiers ignored the checkpoint and attempted to speed away, prompting resistance fighters to open fire.
