At around 8 a.m. on January 2, junta troops launched indiscriminate artillery fire toward Alu Kalay Village. One of the shells landed and exploded near the Kyait Tae Monastery compound, killing three people — U Than Naing and Daw Than Thei, both residents of Alu Village, and a local administrative worker.
