At around 7 p.m. on December 30, a steel-hulled junta vessel of the military council transporting rice along the Chindwin from Pakokku toward Yesagyo was ambushed at a point on the river within Yesagyo Township. A firefight lasting about 30 minutes broke out, during which one corporal under Infantry Battalion 99 was killed and about three others were injured.
