Around 7:30 a.m. on December 30, local battalions operating under the Naypyidaw District Command, in coordination with Battalion 3504 of the Bago Regional Command and Yedashe PDF units, attacked a junta base of about 40 soldiers located in Doe Tan Village on the western bank of the Sittaung River. Two junta soldiers were reportedly killed, and some ammunition was seized.

About an hour later, around 8:30 a.m., the same joint forces ambushed a convoy of around 70 junta troops traveling from Aung Chan Thar Village to reinforce the fighting in Doe Tan. The convoy was hit near Ta Khwal Kyae Village, killing about 20 junta soldiers. Military ambulances were later seen collecting bodies from the scene.
