An incident involving gunfire inside the Centru Police Inspectorate was reported, with allegations that a senior officer fired shots inside the building after Police Day celebrations. The General Police Inspectorate confirmed that a criminal case was opened, the Prosecutor’s Office notified and the officer involved, as well as the head and deputy head of the inspectorate, were dismissed from their positions. Police stated that the officer’s service weapon was secured, while three cartridges were found, and the shots were allegedly fired from a legally owned personal firearm, reportedly due to a malfunction. A ballistic examination is underway.
