On January 6, a Hindu grocery shop owner identified as Moni Chakraborty (40) was hacked to death by unidentified assailants at Charsindur Bazar in Palash Upazila (Sub-District) of Narsingdi District on the night of January 6, 2026, reportsThe Daily Star. The victim, a resident of Sadharchar Union in Shibpur Upazila, was attacked with sharp weapons while returning home after closing his shop around 11 PM. Locals rushed him to Palash Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead. Police said the victim sustained severe head injuries consistent with sharp weapon attacks. As of January 7, no case had been formally filed, though police said the family would submit a complaint.|
