A 15-year-old village boy, identified as Ram Potam, a resident of Korcholi Nadipara, was severely injured after accidentally stepping on a pressure Improvised Explosive Device (IED) allegedly planted by the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) while collecting forest produce in a dense jungle area of Lendra-Korcholi under the Gangaloor Police Station limits in Bijapur District of the Bastar division in Chhattisgarh on January 5, reports The Times of India. According to Police, Ram had ventured into the forest early in the morning to collect items for his livelihood when he triggered an IED that had reportedly been planted by Maoists to target Security Forces (SFs). He sustained severe injuries to his leg, and a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) official confirmed that the blast resulted in the loss of one leg.
