On January 5,a Hindu journalist, Rana Pratap Bairagi (38), acting editor of Narail-based newspaper BD Khabar and ice factory owner, was shot dead by unidentified miscreants in Kopalia Bazar area of Manirampur Upazila (Sub-District) in Jashore District in the evening, reportsThe Daily Star. The victim, and owner of an ice factory, was called out of his workplace and shot multiple times in the head at point-blank range by motorcycle-borne attackers. Bairagi died on the spot.
