Local Russian media report that in Belgorod and the Belgorod district, after an air-raid alert and a subsequent missile strike, a blackout occurred. Substations and a thermal power plant were attacked.
“A missile strike in Belgorod hit the Storozhovaya substation; it is likely that other energy infrastructure nodes were also damaged during the attack - power has been cut off across the entire city,” one Telegram channel writes.
Another local channel reports that the Luch thermal power plant in Belgorod was attacked.
“After the missile strike on the electrical substation and the Luch thermal power plant in Belgorod, power also went out in nearby settlements and in Shebekino,” the message says.
The missile shelling of Belgorod, the damage to infrastructure, and the blackout were confirmed by the regional governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov.
“Preliminarily, there are no casualties. There is significant damage to an infrastructure facility. All emergency services are working on site. Information about the consequences is being clarified,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.
