Two men of foreign origin were arrested by Mexico City police after attempting to rob a citizen with a firearm on the Viaducto Poniente, in the Miguel Hidalgo borough.

The intervention occurred when the suspects got out of a vehicle and threatened a pedestrian, an action that was detected in real time thanks to police monitoring and prior intelligence work.

The Secretariat of Citizen Security reported that the detainees, aged 23 and 35, were caught during a surveillance operation resulting from investigations into thefts of high-end watches committed in commercial and residential areas with high purchasing power.

The agents thwarted the robbery and secured a handgun with three live rounds, cash, two cell phones, and the car used, which had license plates from the state of Durango.
