Grenade event in Mexico on Tue 30th December 2025

A joint operation by the National Guard and the Mexican Army in the municipality of Copalillo resulted in the seizure of weapons, fragmentation grenades, suspected drugs, and various items allegedly related to illicit activities, as part of security deployments in the northern region of the state.

Authorities reported that the operation took place during patrols and crime prevention efforts in communities in the area, where federal personnel, in coordination with the State Attorney General's Office and the State Police, detected evidence that prompted the intervention.

As a result, three rifles, 22 magazines, 12 boxes of ammunition, and three fragmentation grenades were seized, in addition to 12 doses of suspected marijuana, tactical gear, a vehicle, and three laptops.

According to official information, the seizure is part of the National Security Strategy, whose objective is to strengthen the institutional presence and reduce the incidence of crime in municipalities considered a priority.
