On 1 January 2026, an IED of unknown origin detonated targeting a convoy containing the Chief of Staff of the 4th Infantry Brigade belonging to the STC Shabwani Defense Forces on the international Al Abr - Ataq road in Ash Shubaykah (Ataq, Shabwah). There were no casualties. According to STC sources, the attack was carried out by 'terrorist elements', likely referring to Islah-affiliated IRG forces, following the 'crushing blows and expulsion of their camps' at the hands of STC forces.
