On 1 January 2026, Ukrainian forces conducted a drone strike on a cafe in Khorly, Kherson. A fire occurred at the cafe. The head of a local Russian Occupation Government police department from the village of Kalanchak was killed. Ukrainian sources denied the strike targeted civilians. According to Russian sources, over 50 civilians were injured. 28 were killed.
