BREAKING: Cambodia Expresses Regret After Explosion During Trash Burning at Border Cambodia has sent a letter of regret to Thailand after an explosion injured two Cambodian soldiers near the border, Thai authorities said Tuesday. Thailand’s Second Army Region said the Cambodian side reported that at 7:27 a.m. on Jan. 6, Cambodian troops were burning trash inside Cambodian territory near Chong Bok. when an unexploded DKZ round in the garbage detonated. The blast seriously and lightly injured two Cambodian soldiers and caused alarm among nearby Thai forces, the letter said. Cambodia said the incident was an accident and expressed regret, reaffirming its commitment to resolving issues peacefully under international law. The Second Army Region said the situation along the border was under control, with Thai forces maintaining patrols and defensive readiness to ensure public safety and prevent escalation. It said Thailand expects Cambodia to conduct a transparent investigation, adopt measures to prevent similar incidents, and use existing bilateral mechanisms to restore confidence and return the situation to normal as soon as possible. #ThailandCambodia
