Domestic media reported that at around 6:00 p.m., as a protest gathering was taking place in the city of Azna, a group exploited the situation and attacked the local police headquarters.

During the clashes, several people were killed and others injured. Figures released by different sources indicate that three people were killed and between at least seven and seventeen others were wounded. Reports indicate that during the attack, assailants threw stones at police forces and damaged and set fire to several police vehicles. Police also announced that a number of firearms were seized from individuals involved in the attack.
