On December 26,Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered 24 electric detonators concealed near the BangladeshIndia border in Sunamganj District, raising concerns over potential sabotage or Improvised Explosive Device (IED)-related activities, reports The Daily Star. The detonators were found hidden under dry leaves about 30 yards inside Bangladeshi territory in Maijgaon Village along the Charagaon border in Tahirpur Upazila (Sub-District). BGB officials stated that such devices could be used to assemble powerful improvised explosive devices. Investigations are underway to identify those responsible and determine the intended use. Security has been tightened along the nearly 90-kilometre border stretch amid heightened vigilance.
