IED event in Chhattisgarh, Bijapur area, India on Thu 25th December 2025
25th December 2025
Security Forces (SFs) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) successfully thwarted a potential Communist Party of India–Maoist (CPI-Maoist) attack by recovering and neutralising two high-powered Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in Bijapur District of the Bastar division in Chhattisgarh on December 25, reports The Times of India. The operation was carried out during a routine anti-Maoist area domination exercise launched from Forward Operating Base (FOB) Kandlaparti-2. A Bomb Detection and Disposal (BDD) squad of the CRPF’s 214th Battalion, while conducting patrolling and search operations in the dense forest area, identified suspicious objects during demining activities. The team uncovered two IEDs—one weighing 20 kilograms and the other five kilograms—concealed to target patrolling security personnel or civilians. Both devices were safely destroyed on the spot. In addition, the squad seized 110 bundles of firecrackers, commonly known as sutli bombs, which were hidden inside a container wrapped in black tarpaulin.
