On December 25, Police arrested two drug smugglers and recovered one kilogram of heroin, a .32-bore Italy-made pistol, six live cartridges, a car and two mobile phones at a naka near Mehal Dolowala village in Moga District of Punjab, reports The Tribune. The accused were identified as Gagandeep Singh alias Gagan and Chanan Singh, both residents of Tarn Taran District. Police said Chanan Singh is already facing a case under the NDPS Act. The arrests are part of intensified checks across Punjab amid rising concerns over narco-terrorism and the use of arms in drug trafficking networks. Further investigation is underway to ascertain their backward and forward linkages, including possible border-area contacts.
