December 23, two smugglers with alleged cross-border links were arrested during routine patrolling in the Mari Megha village area of Tarn Taran District, reports The Tribune. The accused, Rahul and Yuvrajbir Singh, both residents of Amritsar District of Punjab, were intercepted while riding a motorcycle. Police recovered 50 gm of heroin, a foreign-made Glock pistol with a magazine, two cartridges, INR 4,500 in drug money and two mobile phones. Police said the accused were in touch with Pakistan-based handlers.
